The Challenge

Take a years-old passion project pitched and filmed under a former production company and bring it back to life. Bear Bronson was meant to be the first piece in a series of short documentaries that function as character studies, exploring the Theatre of the Absurd in modern society through the eyes of amateur wrestler Bear Bronson - Now pro under the name Dirty Bulk Bronson. After stalling out when COVID ground work to a halt, we picked the film back up in 2023, turning the footage we had into some of our first original content.

The Approach

Through fresh eyes, the Daydream team picked up this project with intentional scripting, edit, color, and sound design work as well as the composition of a completely original score.

The Results

Selected to the Montclair Film Festival, Milwaukee Film Festival, and New York Indie Shorts Awards, Bear Bronson captures a visceral and immersive exploration of underground independent wrestling. It examines the sacrifices, difficulties, and payoffs that come with that world, while asking a more universal question of why anyone does what they do.
